On September 14th 2006, Olympic Flair ship of Springfield Shipping Company – Egypt berthed HVS for repair and conversion in 75 days (21 days in dry dock). This is a kind of oil tanker, her DWT 147,457 tons, LOA x B x D: 274.3 m x 44.5 m x 24.7 m, output capacity of main engine 17,900 HP.
The main scope of repair work includes overhauling 3,260 tons of steel work, conversion of single-hull into double-hull, single-bottom into double-bottom, blasting and coasting in tank 91,000m2, new piping fitting and new equipment installation for 7 new tanks, 3 new tanks in engine room, repairing main engine, auxiliary engine..... The total of piping system is repaired 10,847 m. Presently, the shipyard is carrying out to install scaffolding for conversion and repair.
According to schedule, the company will deliver this ship on November 28th 2006. This is one of diversified and complex projects but Hyundai spirit along with repairing experience in last big projects, we do hope that HVS will continue to complete this project in time and satisfy the customers’ demand.
