On April 21st 2006, the BOD and General Managers of departments reported the business production result in 1st quarter 2006 and brought forward target for 2nd quarter 2006.
In 1st quarter, the shipyard repaired 35 vessels primarily bulkers, containers, tankers of overseas ship-owners such as Greece, Japan, Thailand… Thanks to good quality, guaranteed delivery time, and competitive price, HVS is evaluated equal or better than shipyards of Singapore and China. With the gross turnover in the 1st quarter making up 40% that of the year, the targeted turnover for 2nd quarter is 33 million USD of which some remarkable projects are Chi Lang FSO of PTSC owner (Petroleum Technical Services Company), and 2 LNG ships of HMM (Hyundai Merchant Marine).
In order to meet the demand of expanding business production, last quarter, the company recruited 164 new employees; organized to teach welding technique and trained multi-skill for 162 workers; sent 70 workers to HMD for training. Besides, in order to encourage working spirit of employees, welfare policies has been maintained and expanded such as organizing to visit 67 employee families, re-painting Vietnamese dormitory, supplying special meal for employees on Wednesday every week. In the coming time, besides upgrading 2 restaurants, the company plans to build the 3rd restaurant and an ice factory with capacity of 20hp/engine.
Aside from above achievements, we need to review the employees’ awareness. In only 3 early months of the year, there were 781 employees absent without permission, 233 employees violating safety regulations & labour regulations; especially thievery still happened of whom 29 employees were dismissed. To lessen the above situation is one goal of company in the 2nd quarter and the remainder months which requires all employees’ effort to make the shipyard developed.
