ELONGATION CONVERSION OF THE FIRST VESSEL OF EUKOR PCTC PROJECT (M/V ASIAN EMPIRE)

In the afternoon of May 15, 2006 the first vessel named Asian Empire, of Eukor PCTC project entered the Quay #3 of the Shipyard for elongation conversion. As scheduled, Asian Empire shall be converted within 48 days divided to 3 stages.

The first stage shall last 13 days at the Quay #3 for existing bridge removal job, cutting area marking, cable and pipe removal, fuel oil tank cleaning, temporary pillar installation, CO2 tank renewal…

The second stage shall last 14 days at Dry dock #2 for primary jobs of conversion such as ship cutting, new body setting, fore body setting, joint fitting and welding, tunnel installation, thruster installation, double bottom tank job & air test, fixed tank cementing, side shell painting, new bow thruster installation, access hole opening…

During 21 days of the third stage, the vessel shall be moved to the Quay #3 for deck final inspection, movable deck test, existing bridge erection job, car deck joint coating, pipe and line connection job, system test, incline test and sea trial.

Last year, HVS sucessfully carried out elongation conversion of 5 pure car and truck carriers of Wallenius Lines AB, Sweden. Thus, Eukor PCTC is the second project at the Shipyard marking its development and trust that customers put in HVS.
